Tata Steel – Tubes SBU, the largest domestic manufacturer of steel tubes , was formed consequent to the merger of the erstwhile Indian Tube Company with Tata Steel in October, 1985.The Indian Tube Company, one of the pioneers in the tubes industry of India, was promoted in 1954 by Tata Steel in collaboration with M/s Stewarts and Lloyds of U.K. The Division, thus, celebrates 50 years of Tube Making in India .It has been an independent SBU of Tata Steel since August 1993. While the SBU has its plant situated at Jamshedpur,it has its own marketing set up with its head office located in Kolkata, and a network of stockists and distributors, all over the country. The SBU promotes three lines of businesses: a) The Tata PipesBusiness b) The Precision Tubes Business c) Tata Structura Business
