Basic Information
Overview

Caparo Wire, a Division of Caparo Steel Products, was formed in 1971 as Wrexham Wire Company to exploit a revolutionary continuous annealing process for the production of Cold Heading quality wire. The success of this product enabled the company to grow through the 1970’s and in 1982 it diversified into the production of Bedding and Seating Wire. In 1984 Caparo Industries, a major UK steel processing group acquired the company and accelerated its growth with the investment of £5m in new plant and processing. At this time the company also began to export its high quality products into Europe and to many other parts of the world. In 1993 the company had developed its existing site to the maximum and invested £3m in a new production facility dedicated to the manufacture of Bedding & Seating wire and its new factory opened in June 1994 and the company name changed to Caparo Wire to reflect the strong international nature of the Caparo Group.
